WORLDWIDE SHORTAGE OF CAT FOOD LOOMS

WORLDWIDE SHORTAGE OF CAT FOOD LOOMS

The UN Committee on World Hunger reported that demand for cat food, mainly in industrialized countries, has soared, resulting in severe shortages. In the United States, supply problems and higher prices have been particularly prevalent in Florida and Arizona, but officials note that problems exist throughout the country.

Social agencies have reported that many of its senior clients are suffering from early stages of malnutrition. Complaints of price gouging have risen dramatically and several states have enacted laws and are imposing fines. The Association of Community Senior Centers has called for congressional hearings.

Several pet food manufacturers are working round the clock and all deny any unwarranted price increases.

A spokesman for AARP issued a statement that, although acknowledging that the world is overrun with too many cats, there is no truth to the rumor that it is preparing a cookbook with recipes for cooking cats.

Well that's a modest proposal. (none / 0)

I don't know what I'll do when there's no more Fancy Feast.  What else is worthy of being put in a crystal goblet?

I've actually tasted all of the fancy feast flavors while dishing them out to my cat.  I stopped that, though, because I got afraid of mad cow disease.  Fancy Feast is pretty good tasting.  Dry food, however, is awful.

No real surprise.  Can't be any worse than haggis.

Blood pudding is worse than haggis (2.00 / 1)

There are things more horrible in aspect and aura than haggis.

Cats and dogs lived with us for THOUSANDS of years (2.00 / 1)

before Fancy Feast, etc.

They are HIGHLY adaptable. Give them smaller portions of your own food.

They will survive. Perhaps even thrive. Dogs are omnivores. I know from the experience of keeping my own Samoyed/Shepherd/wolf mix dog alive for six years after a vet told me that he only had a few months to live that vegetables, cooked or raw are good food for dogs. (along with a low-sodium lamb and rice based food like Science Diet)

Dogs LOVE carrots. They will gladly eat celery with peanut butter

These days, there is a very real possibility that pet foods are imported from China where melamine is sometimes added to (pet|human?) food to fool protein level testing. That destroys the kidneys.

Id rather take a risk that my dog or cat was getting too much fat than risk them being poisoned and dying a painful death or requiring (EXPENSIVE) dialysis for the rest of their life.

Pet food - "feed grade" grains = DANGER (2.00 / 1)

Pet food is made from grains that are often contaminated with fungi which can produce very dangerous toxins. The feed grade feed is often grain that has been mixed with a certain quantity of KNOWN TOXIC grain to lower its cost and allow the contaminated grain to be sold.

Global warming is causing more and more grain to be contaminated.

(BTW, when you eat those animals for their meat, you can get slightly poisoned, too, just as you might be from living or working in a toxic water damaged building.)

For all those who judge, it is gourmet.  Not like the others.  I would never eat just plain Friskies canned food.

Re: CAT FOOD (none / 0)

I don't think you are supposed to eat it. I think you are supposed to use it for bait.
